True. That does explain why I wasn't able to find anything on that particular title.

Did you find anything on this? There is a "Romance on the Trail" starring Gary Cooper and Lili Damita as well.

Those same actors star in the western "Fighting Caravans" which can be found here:
http://www.archive.org/details/FightingCaravans1931_368

So you can take a look and see if they are the same actors as well

Otherwise, does this description sound familiar:

ROMANCE ON THE TRAIL
starring Gary Cooper
with Lily Damita and Ernest Torrence
This is a very early western adventure starring Gary Cooper. The scene is a wagon train caravan. A broken wheel brake causes a down hill runaway with Lilly unable to slow down the cart. Gary Cooper must ride down hill on horseback and catch up to the wagon to rescue her from a crash. After all is safe, they settle down to a campfire dinner together.
Regular 8mm / b & w / 50-foot-reel edition from Hollywood Enterprises/ original box

Look here about half way down the page

Reading that synopsis again, this "film" may be an outtake from the film Fighting Caravans, I think I remember this scene.
